In this edition of our newsletter, we’re shining a light on one of our long-time members (and all-around legend), Filip Eldic—because being part of Mâché only gets better with time!
Filip is the founder and Chief Product Officer at Bluedot, leading the way in the startup and tech world. When he’s not busy shaping the future of location technology, he’s mentoring up-and-coming entrepreneurs through Accelerator programs and investing in startups, both personally and with investor groups.
Outside of work, Filip loves hanging out with his two kids and staying active at the gym, cycling, or hiking. He’s also an avid car enthusiast, finding joy in building and racing four-wheeled beauties.
We’re lucky to have such a passionate and inspiring member in the Mâché community. Scroll down to get to know Filip even better!
What’s the best thing about Mâché?
"Hands down, the people and the culture. In many coworking spaces, it can feel like it's a transitional place where you just happen to cohabitate with other people. Mache is the opposite. We all spend time together; we joke, we eat, we drink, and we play together. I'm proud to say I've made a few life-long friends through Mâché!"
Any must-read books or must-watch movies?
"Both embarrassed and proud to admit that I re-watch Lord of the Rings at least once a year and will do so forever. Outside of that I love a good thriller and even old detective movies like the Maltese Falcon.
Too many books to highlight, but if you are looking for motivation read 'Napoleon and the Hundred Days' by Stephen Coote, if you are looking for understanding read 'Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Harari, and if you are looking to be transported to another place and time, the 'Dune' series by Frank Herbert is wonderful."
Favourite holiday spot?
" I'm biased, but I love the Croatian Mediterranean coast for a relaxing beach holiday. For something more foodie driven and bustling, I say Singapore. And one place that takes the cake culturally is definitely Japan, which I can't wait to go back to."
Go-to comfort food?
"Slow cooked Lamb Ragu using a whole lamb shoulder roast, fresh pappardelle pasta and so much parmesan you can't see the dish underneath it."
One thing you absolutely can’t live without?
"Apart from family, it has to be nature and water (rivers, lakes and seas). Separating yourself from screens and spending time in the natural world wipes off all the problems you tend to accumulate in life."
Favourite band, DJ, or solo artist?
"Tough question, highly depends on the genre, and I listen to a lot of them. Drum and Bass (Calibre, Etherwood, Pola& Bryson), House/EDM (Solomun, Dom Dolla, Boris Brejcha), Hip Hop (The classics - Mobb Deep, Biggie, Wu Tang)."
Perfect day out in Adelaide?
"A slow start followed by a late breakfast and coffee at Lockwood General in Burnside (you haven't lived until you have had breakfast gnocchi!), followed by a hike up to Morialta Falls to see some Koalas and burn some calories. In the afternoon, I would drive down to McLaren Vale, have lunch at the Salopian Inn, Coffee at Dawn Patrol and if warm enough, a swim at Port Willunga. Dinner would involve pre-dinner drinks at Bar Peripheral, food at Osteria Oggi or Fugazzi and a nightcap at Udaberri."

Introducing Mâché Eats | Your Monthly Flavour Fix
Welcome to Mâché Eats, our exciting new newsletter section where we’ll share delicious recipes each month to help you become a foodie just like us!
We’re kicking things off with Moroccan Sweet Potato & Chickpea Rolls. Packed with wholesome ingredients and vibrant spices, these savoury bites are perfect for any occasion. We tried them at our latest Christmas party thanks to Sarah (the mastermind behind this recipe), and they were a huge success. Enjoy
Moroccan Sweet Potato + Chickpea Rolls
Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
½ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
200g sweet potato, grated
100g baby spinach leaves, roughly chopped
400g can chickpeas, drained (liquid reserved) and mashed with a fork
2 tbsp aquafaba (from your drained chickpeas)
Salt & pepper to taste
80g vegan feta cheese
2 sheets pre-rolled puff pastry, thawed
1 tbsp cumin seeds
Instructions:
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté diced onion until soft.
Add minced garlic, ginger, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, and ground nutmeg. Cook until fragrant.
Stir in grated sweet potato and season with salt and pepper. Cook until sweet potato is soft, adding water if needed.
Add chopped spinach and half of the mashed chickpeas. Cook until spinach wilts.
Mash remaining chickpeas with aquafaba into a soft paste. Remove pan from heat and mix into the sweet potato mixture. Allow to cool.
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Lay out puff pastry sheets and spread the filling evenly over each sheet, leaving a border. Roll each sheet tightly into a log, sealing the edges with aquafaba.
Slice each roll into desired portions and place on the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each roll.
Brush the tops of each roll with aquafaba and sprinkle with cumin seeds.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
Enjoy these delightful rolls warm with a side of spiced mango chutney. YUM!

Business | Visitor Economy Update
Adelaide's visitor economy is booming, with Q4 2024 seeing a 27% increase in interstate expenditure, reaching $144 million, and hotel bookings up 11% compared to the previous quarter.
Major events like LIV Golf, Adelaide Fringe, and business conferences have significantly boosted these figures, with business event attendees spending an average of $1,165 per day. Hotel bookings hit a record high in November 2024, and revenue from these bookings reached $115 million.
Visitor expenditure in South Australia is projected to hit $12.8 billion by 2030, driven by strong growth in leisure event spending. Interstate visitors, particularly those from New South Wales and Victoria, contribute significantly to this expenditure.
The Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) is focused on supporting this growth through strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts within the tourism industry.

Sustainability | ASBN Workshop
This workshop, hosted by our partners, the Adelaide Sustainable Building Network and AIA SA Chapter Regen Design Committee, focuses on the critical topic of measuring building upfront carbon.
As the built environment industry faces increasing pressure to verify project carbon impacts, particularly in material upfront carbon, this session aims to equip professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to calculate and design for lower carbon footprints.
Led by industry experts, the workshop will provide technical understanding and hands-on exercises, contributing to professional development through CPD points. Participants will gain insights into upfront carbon calculations and learn how to specify materials effectively, all while enjoying a light afternoon tea.
The event is part of ASBN's 2025 Circular Economy event stream, sponsored by Green Industries South Australia.
