War on Waste

There’s a war against waste and everyone needs to get involved so that rubbish doesn’t become a defining feature of our future.

Presented by Craig Reucassel, ABC's War on Waste documentary series is returning for a third season.

The series looks at some of the biggest contributors to waste problems in Australia: plastic, food and clothing. The solution focussed watch highlights staggering truths about rubbish and recycling in our country but also helps inspire change through covering the ingenious and innovative ways Aussies are managing their waste.

The Benefits of Citizen Science and Noticing Nature

Prof. Miles Richardson discusses how his teams latest research paper published in People and Nature provides evidence on an important area of nature engagement — Citizen Science.

It's inspiring to see academia nod towards the general population and break down the barriers of scientific elitism though this research, showing how being engaged in the natural world is not only great for science and conservation efforts but also for personal and societal wellbeing.

Mâché recommends:
No need to go far for a taste of some Citizen Science, there's plenty of pollinators and butterflies to be spotted this time of year in the gorgeous Himeji Gardens, only a 5 min walk from Mâché.
