Fringe Festival brings a surge in Foot Traffic to Adelaide

Festival season brought the city ALIVE again with culture, events and vibrance and we have been loving it.
What better news than more people choosing to walk places and take the sustainable, healthy and scenic route through our gorgeous city?

The overall foot traffic in the city witnessed a 26% jump, and even saw a 3% increase in visits compared to the same weekend last year.

You can check out the AEDA's full report on how the amount of people walking around the streets of Adelaide has shifted compared to non-festival times, and even in comparison to just last year.

Downstairs area of 452 City OPENS!

We are so excited to introduce our two newest friends, Victoria and Malvern!

Victoria is a spacious beautiful boardroom, and Malvern is a well-equipped meeting room with all the amenities you will need for your Annual Board Meeting or a casual internal catch-up.

You can book our brand new meeting rooms here. And for our flexi members and hotdeskers, you can spend one of your Mâché days at 452 by booking a desk here

Monday Morning Mile

Most of you will have heard of Parkrun, the community and health focussed way more and more people start off their weekend. We are so happy to see more and more run clubs and initiatives turning up around the city bringing opportunities to connect over excersise, but our new favourite one is the Monday Morning Mile

Standing up to the Monday blues and the term ‘bare minimum Monday’, the idea is that "rather than retreating into the duvet and having that extra hour lie-in, why not attack the week, get up an hour earlier, and do something hard…take Monday by the scruff of the neck and put it on the back foot? Then go into the office and kick ass!"

So why not give it a crack next Monday, and if a mile isn't enough for you, you can run another 5k through the parklands straight in to work at Mâché - we have showers available in both our locations after all.

Just kidding, a mile is plenty. Also, free coffee, showers, and parking will be available on the day at the University of Adelaide Sport clubhouse.

New Member Feature | David Trumbull

Such a pleasure to get to know our new member, Dave.

Dave is the tech co-Founder of the startup Car Next Door, now Uber Carshare. He started the company with a good friend, following a rogue idea and a want to reduce carbon emissions - all the elements of an amazing startup success story if you ask us.

After 8 years of living in Adelaide, Dave's insights and local knowledge seem on par with those that have grown up here.

So read on to find out more about Dave in our Q&A and if you happen to cross paths with him in the corridors of Mâché, make sure to say hi!

Tell us a bit about what you do for work/outside of work
Originally from Sydney, I've been in the Adelaide Hills for the past 8 years. I'm married with 2 boys (13 & 15) and we all moved down to live in the southwest-corner of Adelaide city at the end of Jan. Loving the change of pace.
I'm the tech co-Founder of a start-up called Car Next Door, now Uber Carshare. I've been doing that for 12 years and about 6 months ago, I stepped back from CTO and into a software engineering IC role. Again, loving the change of pace.

What's your go-to eatery in Adelaide?
Go-to date night was The Summertown Aristologist, but that closed recently :( . Now I guess I like to mix it up and try something new.

What is your must read book / must watch movie?
I like listening to audiobooks and tend towards sci-fi. I really enjoyed the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson. Very funny and superbly narrated.

Favourite holiday spot and why?
The whole family gets into mountain biking and we'll often head up to Melrose. Not in summer though - it's far too hot. Also, I went to Tasmania for the first time in Jan (hiking, pack-rafting, mountain biking) and I'd love to go back.

Favourite comfort food?
A cheese toastie is pure comfort.

One item you can't live without?
I recently bought myself a commuter bike from TokyoBike (https://www.tokyobike.com.au/). A very nice way to get to and from Mâché :)

Best day out in Adelaide?
On Saturdays I like to do Parkrun, stop in at the central market (if there's no school sport), and head to the beach in the afternoon.
