Mâché Anniversary | Half-Price Meeting Rooms, All July!
We're counting down to our 10th anniversary in August, and as you know, we've been celebrating early with a new offer each month. This July, it's the meeting rooms' turn:
Sage, Burgundy and Teak, our three meeting rooms, are all half price this month!
Sage for the quiet one-on-one. Burgundy for the conversation that needs four real walls and zero echo. Teak for the pitch that needs the full conference room treatment.
You choose 😉 Ten years in, we still believe good work needs the right space to happen.
* This anniversary rate is available for a limited time in July for new and returning members.
Member Feature | Tom Stewart
Not a new face, Tom has been with us for more than two years now. We've watched his team grow during this time and couldn't be prouder of the hard work Tom brings to the table.
Tom's an environmental consultant at Alluvium Consulting, specialising in water resources and hydrology. He's involved in projects covering climate adaptation, water-sensitive urban design, and catchment management, among many other things.
Outside of work, you can find Tom hanging out with his dog Percy, going on urban and nature adventures with his partner Hannah, gardening, cooking, riding his bike, or listening to, watching, and playing music.
So glad to have you at Mâché 💜 We can't wait to see how the Alluvium team keeps growing and achieving great things.
Any must-read book or must-watch movie?
I used to read a lot more than I have prioritised lately, so rather than a top book, here are a couple I have enjoyed:
Indonesia, Etc: Exploring the improbable nation (Elizabeth Pisani)
Life and Death are wearing me out (Mo Yan)
Exactly: How precision engineers created the modern world (Simon Winchester)
Favourite holiday spot?
Tasmania has been my go-to spot for the last 20+ years, and I generally get down there at least a couple of times a year for outdoor adventures including bushwalking, kayaking, climbing, or whatever outdoor activities are happening at the time. More locally, KI for visiting family and making the most of the exceptionally beautiful coastline there.
Go-to comfort food?
Edamame. I always have a few packets in the freezer ready for snacking on at any time. If there was a speed eating competition for them, I think I would definitely get a spot on the podium.
One thing you absolutely can’t live without?
I don’t think I would cope long-term living in places that do not have access to green urban public spaces or that are in near proximity to wild or open environments. There isn’t much that can match the quiet of this and the humbling feeling of insignificance that this brings, which oddly, is significantly important to me.
Favourite artist (music or any other type of art)?
This list could be epically long as I don’t have a top pick or genre. A large chunk of my non-work life has involved playing in bands. I grew up on a steady diet of punk, thrash and hardcore music, though that’s a small slice of the musical pie that I listen to these days.
Here’s a playlist of 90 mins of random selections. Love it, hate it, be indifferent to it… It’s not ordered, so shuffle and skip away!
Perfect day out in Adelaide?
I love those sunny and cool days where I can zip about on my bike or go for a climb or a walk in Morialta or Onkaparinga.
Mâché Recommends | Jauma Winter Fest
Jauma WinterFest is back at Jauma Farm in Lenswood, 25 and 26 July. Two days of natural wine, live local music, wood-fired pizza and fireside hangs in the Adelaide Hills.
Cosy nooks, heated marquees, glowing gardens and a dance floor under festoons, what else could we ask for! Tickets include entry and a Jauma wine tasting, with add-ons like a masterclass with James Erskine or a guided winter farm walk with Sophie Erskine.
The music line-up runs all day both days, from acoustic sets to DJs to full bands, and there's a solid drinks list beyond wine too: Uraidla Brewery, Wildflower Brewery, mulled wine and non-alcoholic options for designated drivers. Food is wood-fired pizza with veggie and gluten-free choices. Tickets start at $39 general admission, with sliding scale and designated driver options available, and kids under 18 get in free with an adult.
If you're after a proper winter reset with good wine, good music and good people, this one's worth the drive up to the Hills.
Mâché Eats | Spiced Apple Quinoa Porridge
Spiced Apple Quinoa Porridge, the warm bowl you want on a cold morning. Just a handful of ingredients, one pot and about 10 minutes on the stove for a cinnamon-spiced porridge that's vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and oil-free. Enjoy!
Ingredientes (Serves 2-3)
2 cups cooked quinoa
1 cup plant-based milk
1 apple, grated
1-2 medjool dates, diced
2 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp sea salt
Option: 1 scoop (30g) INNA Protein vanilla protein powder + extra 1/4-1/2 cup milk
Suggested toppings: almond butter, fresh berries, stewed fruit, sliced banana, coconut flakes, toasted nuts/seeds, hemp hearts, cacao nibs, maple syrup
Directions
Place all main ingredients, except the protein powder (if using), into a pot and stir to combine.
Bring to a boil (just) over medium heat, then immediately reduce to low heat and simmer until most of the liquid has been absorbed - around 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
If using, combine protein powder in a separate bowl with the extra water (start with 1/4 cup, add more if necessary) to create a thick, smooth paste, then combine with the quinoa mixture.
Divide the porridge between bowls and add all your favourite toppings!
As always, thanks to our member Sarah Lelliott for the recipe 💜
